Steve Smith will be unavailable for selection until the home Test series against New Zealand in December. This decision follows the confirmation of a cervical facet joint injury in his neck. In his absence, Josh Inglis made an impressive contribution by scoring an unbeaten 85 runs against South Africa. Australia continues to rely on the performances of other players while Smith undergoes treatment and rehabilitation.
